Taking the Sydney to Katoomba Train to the Blue Mountains
Train travel over the Blue Mountains at Sydney Private Tours is easier than most people think (at least it was for us!). The Intercity Trains Network's Blue Mountains Train Line (from Central Station to Katoomba Station) takes roughly two hours to get from Sydney to the Blue Mountains. Take a Central Station to Blue Mountains Train early in the morning to get the most out of your vacation.
Take the early Express Train not to save time (it's just 15 minutes faster than the normal train), but to get to Katoomba by mid-morning. Arrive at Central Station approximately 20 minutes before departure on the day of your Blue Mountains day excursion, and the train was already on the platform. The train would slowly depart out of the city towards Parramatta, then on to the Blue Mountains from there.
Getting to the Blue Mountains National Park from Katoomba
Walk south on Katoomba Street from Katoomba Station. Merge onto Panorama Drive, which turns to the east, after passing Echoes Boutique Hotel and Restaurant. Turn south on Echo Point Road and enter the park at Echo Point Lookout.
Top Tip: Stop at a grocery shop on Katoomba Street for hiking snacks and picnic lunch ingredients. Woolworth's, on Waratah Street, just west of Katoomba Street. It might be one of your favourites.
Katoomba to Blue Mountains Bus: The Blue Mountains Explorer Hop-On-Hop-Off Bus connects Katoomba with local attractions like Echo Point, Scenic World, and Leura Cascades.
